Veterinary Acupuncture

Dr. Kira MacKinnon is certified in veterinary acupuncture. She is also pursuing certification in food therapy and then Chinese herbs to further expand our holistic veterinary services.

Acupuncture is most often associated with pain management, but studies have shown it to be helpful in a multitude of medical conditions including:

  • Seizures
  • Liver disease
  • Gastrointestinal disease
  • And more

Acupuncture is different for each individual. There are 3 major factors that come into play when considering acupuncture as treatment:

  1. The individual’s healing potential
  2. Medical condition
  3. The combined effect of the individual’s genetic makeup, their lifestyle, and their age.

Acupuncture, put simply, is the insertion of needles into specific points on the body to produce a healing response. Acupuncture has been a tradition of Chinese medicine for 2000 years. We are thankful to be able to offer this service at Echo Ridge, as we feel it brings even greater healing potential to our patients.
